Ecstasy
the fresh scent of the soil as the
barren land kisses the droplets of rain
I'm flying, I'm flying free
I'm flying in the heights of ecstasy
The trees are whispering behind my back
the leaves keep murmuring as lightening crack
the rumbling thunder sounds like a gong
but I am oblivious to all, for
I'm flying, I'm flying free
I'm flying in the heights of ecstasy
The gurgling brook shares my delight
the water streaming through the rocks
I am dancing to it's rhythm,
I am dancing with the flow for
I'm flying, I'm flying free
I'm flying in the heights of ecstasy.
It's a secret untold, a pleasure unknown
And it has never ever happened before
The dreams are new, more is in store
Hopes are alive, there is more to life
I'm flying, I'm flying free
I'm flying in the heights of ecstasy.
The soul is free, there are miles to go
and as always there is a bend at the road
and am brimming with happiness, finally
I'm flying, I'm flying free
I'm flying in the heights of ecstasy.

The 3 Mistakes...
piye' from aaja nachle right now...an absolutely wonderful song.yes so as i was
saying i finished the book.the first thing i thought when i had heard that the author had published a book on his 3 mistakes was that those mistakes must be his previous two books and this one! but obviously i was mistaken.it revolves around cricket, business and religion.and i guess friendship, politics and love too.the story revolves around 3 friends, Govind,Ishaan and Omi,similar to that of 5 point someone.thats what i have noticed in his previous books too.the central characters are almost the same.while 'hari' in 5point someone had matured to 'shyam' in one nite @ call centre, vroom was the some-what mellowed down version of ryan i
guess.and now Omi is an absolute replica of alok placed in a new situation.the guy who just follows his friends in whatever they do and who is regarded as an idiot by Govind (friendship?!!). but its Govind who completely amazed me.the businessman to the core.one who always weighs the cost and benefits in every situation, the
quite less coz most of the time he seems to be calculating.so the trio wants to do something meaningful and so they start a shop which sells sports items (read cricket).the story proceeds to show how they manage it and we also get to see Govind's skills at business and Ishaans' at cricket.the first mistake that Govind made
was to decide to shift his business and this gets shattered with the earthquake.meanwhile they also get entangled in the political parties who mix religion for their evil interests.at the same time Ishaan discovers a child prodigy Ali who is amazing at cricket and decides to coach him.we also get to see a glimpse of the cricket matches taking place, the aftermath of the gujrat earthquake and how the political parties used it for their benefit.while all this is taking place to add more filmy 'masala' (as said by the author himself) Govind falls in love with his best friend's sister (remember hari falling in love with his professor's daughter) and he pays a heavy price for it as Ishaan stops talking to him but this happens only later.the world trade center attack and the hindu muslim riots also gets a place in his story and such a riot takes place on one night which is the climax. actually everything happens together in the climax so that it seemed more like a movie which initially moved at a slow pace and then got over with just one night.we see the people who are after Ali and suddenly Ishaan discovers that his friend had cheated him and then the sacrifice of Omi and finally the third mistake that Govind made (which was'nt so very convincing if you ask me).All this in one night.and its left to the author to set everything right.the story is about friendship more than anything else which might make you feel that you are almost reading 5 point someone.even the thought processes are similar (or maybe all boys think alike).the element of God does not go unnoticed as Govind passes on from the phase of an agnostic to a believer.on the whole, the story is once again about the indian youth and to a certain level the author does meet with the readers expectations as it is fresh in its theme.but then dont expect too much coz this time the author didnt have God to help him out in an isolated compartment :) so i guess thats it for now.hope i havent killed your interest in the story by giving such a long review.if so do let me know so that i can make amends.bye

Am Back....

The Face
It was in the twilight
That I saw that face
When the glorious Sun
Had removed his crown.
When the birds sang
Their final song of the day
And the whistling of the wind
Chimed in my ears.
It was not an unusual face
Nay, not unusual at all
For it was a pale one with brown eyes
So cold and aloof
And yet its eyes spoke depths
Of the past it had survived
I probed into those deep brown eyes
Searching for the mysteries it held
For the deep dark secrets it treasured.
I saw the pain in those eyes
The pain of being unloved
The pain of being uncared
The sorrow of being betrayed
The quivering lips wanted
To tell me something
Something about its past
And yet it remained silent
The night was fast approaching
The beautiful Queen was up in the sky
And her twinkling Ministers
Adorned the night
Our eyes met for the last time
And for once I thought it smiled
And then the mysterious face vanished
In the darkness of the night
Leaving me alone in
That cold breeze
With so many thoughts unspoken
And so many words unsaid….

CONFESSIONS
The hangman’s noose
Swayed above my neck
At the deaths door I waited
For I had made the confession
Of the brutal sin I committed
On a dark, cloudy, moonless night
I killed my own daughter
With my bare hands
And I saved my darling daughter
From the clutches of this evil world
She was pale in color
With a twinkle in her eye
And she was smiling broadly
Revealing dimples on both sides
Never had I seen such a lovely lass
So very meek and mild
And yet I killed her
In the midst of the forest
In the darkness of the night.
Never did she utter a single word
Never did she utter a cry
And there lay my child
So pure and innocent
On her way to Paradise
Yes! I punished her, my innocent daughter
For she made the mistake of being a girl
She was born in a land
Where girls are weighed
With the tons of dowry they bring.
A land where large vultures
Will swoop down on her
And feast upon her
As if she was some sumptuous meat.
Yes! I confess, I killed my own daughter
For she had no right to live
In this cruel world
Full of crime and sin.
And now my daughter
Awaits me in the other world
And I have to take leave
For she is quite lonely
And I have nobody to grieve.
And so when the King of East
Removed his crown
And the clock struck six,
I journeyed to the land of the dead
For I had made the confession
Of the brutal crime I did.

The Dawn In a Lonely Shore
At the dawn of the day
When the chirping of the birds
Echoed in the air
And the morning dew
Settled lazily on the leaves
I sat on that lonely shore
Waiting, for the King of the East
I listened to the low
Whispers of the waves
Bringing word from the land beneath
I wondered whether I could ever unfurl
The mysteries that lie in that deep blue sea
The foamy waves splashed
Playfully at my feet
The coolness of the water
Spread all over me
The soothing breeze calmed my soul
And the salty smell of the sea
Became fragrance to my nose.
And then I saw,
Faraway at the horizon
A golden glow was spreading
In the sky
With a tinge of red and orange
All over the blue sky.
The King of East had finally risen
From his deep slumber
Emitting his shining rays
And bringing light to this world
Filled with cruelty and hunger
Wiping away the darkness of the night
To a new day filled with hope and blight
Never had I seen
Such a divine sight
So very calm and peaceful
Mysterious are the ways
Of the Great Creator
Who has blessed us
With a nature so nice and wonderful
Again I looked at the morning sun
And in the sky he shone
I returned from the shore being glad
For the king of east had bequeathed his throne.
