The Guest at the ungodly hour

Charlie, bruce lee and the phone kumaris can wait...something more important came up and i just had to add this in my story. and it all started when t moved to the bunk. ofcourse it had to happen...last time she shifted on to the bunk, there was an earthquake in chennai! so this time we were kinda expecting something and so it did happen...we had a guest...at 4:00 am in the morning...on the day of my qt test...i was having this really bad dream when i was woken up by s in this really solemn manner...everything seemed too bright (she had switched on the light hehe) and she just pointed out to the food court...it took few seconds to focus my blurry eyes to that direction...and i saw it...it was also looking at me...grey, pointed nose and a tail...yup a rat!!! yikes! i really didnt know what to do!! i got up quickly and jumped on to the bunk with t...the rat also jumped and went on to sit on my operations text book (eww...) ofcourse we gave our set of screams but since it was like 4 in the morning, the whole of servite was in deep slumber...the rat quickly moved on from my text book (seems like even the rat couldnt 'chew' on that one!) and settled into s's cupboard...and s, being the brave one she was, decided to act...she took this wiper which we had and tried to shoo off the rat...boy it seems so hilarious when i think of it now...but back then it was a moment of panic... it seemed like the rat was planning to settle in her cupboard (mine thankfully was locked) and we werent having any luck in getting rid of it, so we decided to call our asst. warden...god bless her soul...she came up and tried her hand in shooing it off...i did not enter the room as there was no room on the bunk now coz both s n t were there...i was standing on the stairs ready to scoot up just in case the rat came out...but thankfully it didnt...it went through the way it came...through the window on the left side...and to this day the window remains closed...i thanked our asst. warden and she simply said you 3 are like my children, thats why i came...i was so touched that i really didnt know what to say...and so at like 4:30 we 3 were wide awake, shaken by this incident and even laughing in bouts of hysteria thinking about it... s told me that she woke up suddenly to hear a crunching sound in the room...she got up and conjured this vision of me eating biscuits!! (at 4:00 am!! lol!!) so for about 10 minutes she saw this vision while i was blissfully asleep and then it dawned on her that it was not me (voila!) and that was when she realised that there was an intruder in the room...hmm...and that is how this story goes...it was just the beginning of the day and so many things were looming in front of us...our test, the thought of disinfecting the room, (s even had to wash her clothes in her cupboard) and we also had to empty the food court...and i knew i had to add this in my story...of course its part n parcel of servite life alrite!! :)

p.s: the rat must've left coz the food court was pretty empty, it must've actually taken pity on our condition..hehe..
oh n ya the next time t moves to the bunk we are planning to conduct a prayer service for the sake of protecting mankind...hehe..k so thats it for now...will be soon with some other story...ciao

Chennai Showers and Chennai summers

I am thoroughly disappointed :( I had drafted a brilliant post regarding the recent Chennai showers which we had and it just cant be located. And I’m not able to recollect what exactly I had written. Hmm..it doesn’t rain anymore though suddenly it looks very dark and gloomy. I was really excited when it rained. For one, it reminded me of home. Especially the scent of the wet soil on the first rain. And we even had thunder and lightning (thankfully the power didn’t go off as it used to at home!) but what was even more fun was walking through the Loyola campus. The whole scenery was breath taking. It was as if everything was asleep all this while and they just bloomed up. The trees had donned a darker shade of green and the whole place was so calm and serene with the occasional chirping of the birds that was like music to the ears. And as I walked along it drizzled slightly so that made the walk even more pleasant. I wonder whether a picture of it would have done justice to that moment. It might have captured the beauty of the place but not its soul. It actually made me so happy and thankful...that I was alive to see this...that I got an opportunity to be here and experience this...each day on the way to college we are always running quickly and while coming back we are too engrossed in the things to be done that we actually fail to notice these little things around us... now this is one memory that will stay with me I guess... the title of this post btw has been inspired from a book which I had read called “Bombay rains and Bombay girls”. I know I should have written Chennai rains and Chennai guys but this sounded more apt. And by Chennai summers I meant that I got placed for my summers in Chennai which means its “I will servite” all the way...hehe...btw an anonymous R had recently posted a comment “yeh ishq nahin asaan bas itna samajh lijiye....” well Anonymous R I console myself by saying “Ishq hota nahin sabhi keliye, yeh bana hai kisi kisi keliye”..hehe... I have decided to work on my second chapter for ‘I will servite”...it will be called ‘Charlie, Bruce lee and the phone kumaris..will publish it soon..i wanted to add something on this person whom we call as king of bad times. But then maybe some other time...chow for now..
